The Data Protection and Quality Assurance Officer is responsible for maintaining KeNIC’s data governance framework and ensuring full compliance with the Data Protection Act and other applicable regulations. The role supports the implementation of data protection strategies, promotes privacy and cybersecurity best practices, and ensures quality assurance for efficient and compliant service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Provide guidance and support to internal and external stakeholders on data protection and privacy matters.
Coordinate and implement KeNIC’s data protection strategy, frameworks, and policies.
Monitor and ensure compliance with the Data Protection Act, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and regular data protection audits.
Promote a culture of data protection and privacy across the organization and among stakeholders.
Advise on data protection aspects of incident response and support data breach notification processes.
Support registrar and registrant data protection matters and dispute resolution processes, including ADRP.
Implement quality assurance frameworks to enhance operational efficiency and service excellence.
Review and monitor vendor contracts to ensure compliance with data protection requirements.
Prepare and submit periodic data protection compliance reports to relevant stakeholders.
Organize and deliver training and awareness programs on data protection, privacy, and cybersecurity.
Act as the primary point of contact on data protection matters with regulators, staff, and other bodies.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Law, Data Protection, or a related field.
At least one (1) year of experience in data protection, compliance, privacy, ICT, legal, or related fields.
Working knowledge of data protection laws and relevant regulatory frameworks.
Experience in policy development, compliance training, and working within the IT industry.
Experience in managing data incidents and breaches.
Good understanding of data processing operations, information systems, and data security needs.
Additional IT-related certifications are an added advantage.
