The Research Analyst is responsible for gathering, analyzing, and interpreting financial, economic, and market data to support investment decision-making. The role involves creating financial models, conducting valuations, preparing research reports, and providing insights to the investment committee. The analyst also supports client reporting, conducts due diligence, and contributes to the firm’s market intelligence and asset allocation strategies.
Key Responsibilities
Gather, collate, and analyze financial and qualitative data on NSE-listed companies.
Develop, update, and maintain financial models and conduct independent business valuations.
Collect and evaluate macro-economic data, industry trends, and business drivers.
Create asset allocation strategies and House View guidance for the investment committee.
Prepare investment analysis reports to support investment committee decision-making.
Assist Portfolio Managers in compiling client investment reports.
Conduct portfolio analysis and recommend appropriate asset allocations.
Deliver client presentations on investment options and market insights.
Conduct market research across countries, industries, and macro/micro-economic segments.
Identify and evaluate suitable listed and unlisted investment opportunities.
Build and update banking models and conduct due diligence site visits.
Call for and document Investment Committee meetings, including minute-taking.
Present macro/micro-economic updates and market performance evaluations to the committee.
Prepare weekly and quarterly economic commentaries for clients.
Organize and conduct management meetings with potential investee companies.
Attend analyst briefings, investor meetings, and client visits, and prepare follow-up reports.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance, Actuarial Science, Statistics, or another finance-related field.
Professional certification such as CFA, CIFA, CPA, or ACCA—or active progress toward any (CFA/CIFA preferred).
Master’s degree is an added advantage.
CISI Module 2 Finalist is an added advantage.
Strong competence in financial modelling (with ready-made models available).
Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Research or Investment Analyst in investment banking or investment management.
Experience in the pension industry and capital markets is desired.
