The Communications Assistant, Events Support (Africa) will provide communications and coordination support for high-profile engagements and events across multiple African cities. This short-term consultancy role is ideal for a proactive and highly organized communicator with strong writing skills, experience supporting events, and a keen interest in storytelling, stakeholder engagement, and Africa's development landscape.
Research and prepare profiles of speakers, delegates, partners, and key stakeholders participating in events.
Develop briefing notes, interview talking points, and background materials to support event participation and engagements.
Draft media memos, event summaries, short articles, and other event-related communication materials.
Support the captioning, organization, and distribution of photos and videos for media and digital platforms.
Coordinate guest relations activities, including communication with speakers, delegates, and invited guests.
Assist with event moderation and conduct interviews where required.
Manage schedules, travel arrangements, bookings, and logistical coordination for events and engagements.
Support on-site event implementation and ensure smooth coordination among stakeholders and partners.
Contribute to storytelling and communications activities that amplify the impact of events across Africa.
Relevant academic background in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, International Relations, Development Studies, or a related field.
Experience supporting events, conferences, workshops, or high-level stakeholder engagements.
Demonstrated ability to develop communication materials and stakeholder briefing documents.
Experience working in multicultural and fast-paced environments is an added advantage.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to conduct rapid and accurate research and synthesize information clearly and concisely.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
Ability to work effectively in multi-country and fast-paced environments.
Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills.
Ability to support event moderation, interviews, and public-facing engagements.
Interest in development, public policy, governance, or Africa-focused initiatives is an added advantage.
Proactive, adaptable, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
