The Portuguese-speaking Consultant (Communications) will provide professional translation, localization, and communications support for Show Up Communications projects. This flexible consultancy role is ideal for a skilled language and communications professional with experience translating between English and Portuguese, adapting content for diverse audiences, and supporting multilingual communication initiatives across digital and public-facing platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Translate and adapt communication materials including articles, website content, reports, presentations, social media posts, and captions between English and Portuguese.
Ensure translations maintain accuracy, clarity, cultural relevance, and consistency of messaging.
Provide live or written translation support during interviews and stakeholder engagements when required.
Collaborate with communications and multimedia teams to integrate translated content into graphics, videos, and other communication products.
Apply approved glossaries, brand guidelines, and style guides to ensure consistency in tone, terminology, and presentation.
Proofread and review Portuguese-language content to ensure linguistic accuracy and quality standards are met.
Adapt content to suit different audiences, platforms, and communication objectives.
Deliver assignments on an on-demand basis within agreed timelines and project requirements.

Qualifications

Native or fluent Portuguese speaker with excellent command of English.
Proven professional experience in translation, communications, content development, or a related field.
Experience translating and adapting digital content for websites, social media platforms, and multimedia outputs.
Strong attention to detail and ability to tailor messages to target audiences.
Ability to work independently in a remote environment and manage deadlines effectively.

Desired Skills

Experience supporting or conducting bilingual interviews.
Familiarity with development, ICT, governance, or policy-related communications.
