Strategic Communications Assistant

    The Strategic Communications Assistant will support the planning and execution of strategic communication initiatives for Show Up Communications Limited and its clients. This role is suited for a resourceful and detail-oriented communications professional with experience in content development, media engagement, digital communications, stakeholder management, and project coordination. The successful candidate will work closely with internal teams and external clients to deliver impactful communication projects across diverse platforms.


    Key Responsibilities

    Support the development and implementation of communication strategies for Show Up Communications and its clients.
    Ensure consistency of messaging across communication platforms, campaigns, and materials.
    Draft, edit, proofread, and produce communication materials including press releases, opinion pieces, annual reports, newsletters, and blog articles.
    Contribute to the development of engaging content for both internal and client-facing communications.
    Manage social media calendars and coordinate content production with the multimedia team.
    Collaborate with the web team to ensure timely updates and maintenance of digital platforms.
    Schedule social media content, monitor engagement, track performance metrics, and recommend improvements.
    Coordinate internal and client meetings, prepare agendas, and document meeting minutes.
    Support project administration through calendar management, time tracking, and logistical coordination.
    Assist in brand-building initiatives and ensure adherence to established brand guidelines.
    Support senior consultants through research, correspondence drafting, briefing preparation, and risk monitoring.
    Assist in the coordination of high-level client engagements, workshops, and reporting activities.


    Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
    Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a strategic communications role.
    Demonstrated experience in content development, media engagement, and digital communications.
    Proven ability to support communication projects involving multiple stakeholders and audiences.


    Desired Skills

    Strong analytical, writing, and multimedia analysis skills.
    Experience in the development sector, particularly working with stakeholders and government counterparts.
    Excellent interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity.
    Knowledge of global development issues, international affairs, and related concepts.
    Experience working with regional or international organizations is an added advantage.
    Demonstrated ability to organize and coordinate large events involving multiple stakeholder groups.
    Knowledge of videography and photography.
    Digital marketing knowledge and practical experience.
    Excellent written, verbal, and virtual communication skills, including email and online meeting platforms.
    Ability to synthesize complex issues into clear and engaging communication products.
    Demonstrated ability to work effectively within multicultural and geographically dispersed teams across different time zones.
    Proactive, organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities simultaneously.


    Job Details

    Position: Strategic Communications Assistant.
    Location: On-site, Nairobi.
    Duration: 12 Months.
    Reporting To: Project Manager.
