The Postdoctoral Researcher will support advanced research on cholera transmission by managing and analyzing complex datasets from surveillance, clinical, environmental, and climate sources. The role focuses on developing statistical models, generating risk maps, and providing evidence to inform public health interventions and vaccine effectiveness strategies.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain structured data systems integrating surveillance, clinical, environmental, and climate datasets.
Clean, harmonize, and prepare large multi-source datasets for statistical analysis.
Integrate geospatial and climatic data with cholera incidence data.
Develop a Statistical Analysis Plan for modelling cholera transmission dynamics and vaccine effectiveness.
Conduct time series, regression, and spatiotemporal analyses.
Produce cholera transmission risk maps and identify key outbreak predictors.
Apply geostatistical and machine learning methods where appropriate.
Prepare statistical reports, manuscripts, presentations, and policy briefs.
Support dissemination of research findings to stakeholders.
Qualifications
PhD in Statistics, Biostatistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Disease Modelling, or a related quantitative field from a recognized institution.
At least three 3 years of experience in advanced statistical modelling.
Experience working with surveillance or routine health datasets.
Proficiency in statistical software such as R, Python, STATA, or equivalent.
Experience in geospatial or spatiotemporal modelling is an added advantage.
