The Strategic Communications Intern will support the projects team at Show Up Communications Limited across a broad range of strategic communications assignments. This internship offers a hands-on opportunity for a highly motivated and versatile communicator to gain practical experience in content creation, media relations, event coordination, digital campaigns, research, and multimedia production within a dynamic Pan-African communications agency.

Key Responsibilities

Support the drafting, editing, summarizing, and fact-checking of articles, blog posts, reports, and other written content.
Assist in preparing meeting presentations, pitch decks, and project documentation.
Take notes during virtual and in-person meetings and compile key insights and action points.
Conduct desk research to support communication projects and client assignments.
Assist with referencing and citation management using APA, Harvard, and other academic styles.
Maintain datasets, resource libraries, and project documentation.
Provide communication and logistical support during client meetings, webinars, and physical events.
Support senior associates with editorial, research, and strategic communication assignments.
Contribute to content development, digital campaigns, and multimedia production activities as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
Applicants must be recent graduates with no more than one year since completion of their degree.
Demonstrated interest in strategic communications, media, public relations, or development communications.
Strong writing, research, and analytical skills.

Desired Skills

Strong analytical thinking and content development skills.
Experience or interest in the development sector, including exposure to government or multilateral stakeholders.
Excellent interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity.
Familiarity with global geopolitics and international development issues.
Previous experience with regional or international organizations is an added advantage.
Demonstrated ability to coordinate events and engage multiple stakeholders.
Proficiency in Google Workspace applications including Docs, Sheets, and Slides.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Familiarity with Canva, Trello, and basic video or audio editing tools.
Strong written, verbal, and virtual communication skills.
Ability to simplify complex issues into clear and engaging content.
Self-motivated, proactive, and comfortable working with geographically dispersed teams.

Internship Details

Position: Strategic Communications Intern.
Location: On-site, Nairobi.
Working Hours: 0800 to 1700 Hrs.
Duration: 6 Months.
Reporting To: Project Manager.
Remuneration: Paid.
