    The Africa Centre for Health Systems and Gender Justice (ACHGJ) is inviting applications for a Product, Communications and Learning Intern under the FemDigiNomics Project. The internship provides an opportunity to support documentation, storytelling, product feedback processes, and communication of learning generated through FemDigiNomics. The role is ideal for individuals passionate about translating complex ideas into accessible content that supports women’s economic empowerment, digital inclusion, and social impact.


    Location: Nairobi, with possible community engagement in informal settlements and partner sites
    Duration: 3 to 6 Months
    Type: Internship
    Reports To: FemDigiNomics Project Lead


    Key Responsibilities

    Support the development of user-friendly financial literacy, livelihood, and empowerment content for women and community audiences.
    Assist in documenting stories, case studies, learning notes, success stories, and programme insights.
    Help translate technical concepts into accessible and engaging language for women participants, partners, donors, and community stakeholders.
    Support user feedback collection and analysis for the Women’s Financial Inclusion and Lending Readiness Scorecard and the FemDigiNomics platform.
    Assist in preparing presentations, briefs, social media content, partner updates, newsletters, and donor-facing materials.
    Support documentation and organisation of reusable learning resources, tools, and knowledge products emerging from the project.


    Qualifications

    Background in Communications, Journalism, Design, Development Studies, Gender Studies, Public Policy, or a related field.
    Strong writing, editing, content development, and storytelling skills.
    Interest in women’s economic opportunity, digital inclusion, African language technology, and social impact initiatives.
    Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly, simply, and respectfully to diverse audiences.
    Strong organisational skills and attention to detail in content creation and knowledge management.


    Cross-Cutting Requirements

    Strong interest in women’s economic opportunity, gender justice, financial inclusion, and health equity.
    Respect for community knowledge, lived experience, and ethical data practices.
    Ability to work with low-income women and grassroots partners with dignity, sensitivity, and professionalism.
    Strong writing, documentation, and communication skills.
    Fluency in English and Swahili.
    Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
    Willingness to learn and work across research, programme implementation, technology, and community engagement.

    About FemDigiNomics

    FemDigiNomics is a women-centred data and intelligence platform being developed by the Africa Centre for Health Systems and Gender Justice. Building on HerEconomics, the platform uses community-generated data, Swahili natural language processing (NLP), responsible AI, and participatory research to strengthen women’s financial inclusion, livelihood resilience, and health-informed economic empowerment. The initiative translates women’s lived experiences related to savings, debt, enterprise growth, care responsibilities, health-related financial pressures, and digital access into practical tools such as financial inclusion scorecards, community insights, and decision-support systems that improve economic opportunities and wellbeing for low-income women.
