The Legal Officer II, Grade 8, is responsible for providing legal advisory services to the Authority and supporting the Board Secretariat. The role involves offering legal opinions, managing pre litigation matters, ensuring regulatory compliance, conducting legal research, and supporting the organization in mitigating legal risks while upholding its mandate.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare legal opinions and provide sound legal advice to management and relevant departments.
Conduct legal risk reviews and advise on mitigation measures.
Provide and interpret legal information to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Handle pre litigation disputes, legal inquiries, and related matters.
Review ongoing cases and support case management processes.
Conduct legal research and investigations on issues within the Authority’s mandate.
Develop and contribute to guidelines that ensure compliance with collaboration and partnership policies and strategies.
Conduct legal training sessions and disseminate relevant legal information to staff.
Prepare legal reports and maintain proper legal documentation.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Laws degree from a recognized institution.
Postgraduate Diploma in Law from Kenya School of Law.
Admitted as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a valid practicing certificate.
Membership to the Law Society of Kenya and in good standing.
Proficiency in computer applications.
Key Competencies
Strong analytical and legal research skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage legal risks and handle sensitive matters with confidentiality.
Strong organizational and report writing skills.
High level of integrity and professional ethics.
