Savannah Informatics is seeking a Backend Developer to design, build, and optimize scalable backend systems that support healthcare facilities across the region. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing high performance backend solutions, maintaining system reliability and security, and collaborating with cross functional teams to deliver impactful healthcare technology products. This role is ideal for a skilled developer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and creating scalable systems that improve healthcare delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Develop efficient, scalable, and maintainable backend code that meets business and user requirements.
Design and implement backend systems that are reliable, secure, and high performing.
Refactor and optimize existing backend code to improve performance and maintainability.
Develop and maintain GraphQL and REST APIs to support seamless integration with frontend systems.
Collaborate with product managers, architects, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
Analyze backend system performance and identify opportunities for improvement using system and user metrics.
Develop and maintain unit tests, integration tests, and automated testing suites to ensure software reliability.
Implement new features while ensuring compatibility and incorporating user feedback.
Evaluate and prioritize feature requests based on feasibility, impact, and product objectives.
Produce clear technical documentation covering backend architecture, functionality, and usage.
Implement security best practices including authentication, authorization, and data protection measures.
Ensure backend systems comply with healthcare industry standards and regulations.
Stay current with backend development technologies, trends, and best practices.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a science related field or equivalent practical experience.
Proven knowledge and experience in software development, programming languages, and technical concepts.
Proficiency in database query languages and database management concepts.
Familiarity with Linux and macOS development environments.
Candidates from non traditional technology backgrounds with strong relevant skills are encouraged to apply.

Key Competencies

Advanced understanding of system design principles for building scalable and maintainable backend solutions.
Proficiency in Golang and/or Python, with knowledge of additional backend programming languages considered an advantage.
Strong understanding of API design principles and experience with GraphQL and REST services.
Experience working with Object Relational Mappers and relational database design.
Knowledge of event driven architectures and asynchronous processing techniques.
Ability to integrate backend systems with external services and applications.
Understanding of server side templating technologies and backend frameworks.
Strong knowledge of security and compliance best practices.
Experience implementing authentication and authorization across multiple systems and environments.
Proficiency in writing unit tests, integration tests, and end to end tests.
Strong understanding of version control systems and collaborative software development practices.
Excellent analytical, problem solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
