Savannah Informatics is seeking a Junior Product Designer to join its Product Development team. The successful candidate will support product discovery, user research, and design execution across healthcare systems and workflows. This role involves translating user needs into intuitive user journeys, flows, prototypes, and design solutions while collaborating closely with product managers, engineers, and healthcare professionals. It is an ideal opportunity for an early career designer who enjoys solving complex problems and designing products that create meaningful impact in healthcare.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in gathering user requirements through stakeholder engagement and research activities.
Participate in brainstorming sessions and design discussions to improve product features and user experiences.
Support market research and competitor analysis to inform product decisions.
Create user journeys and workflows that clearly represent user goals, system states, decision points, and edge cases.
Design wireframes, mockups, and high quality prototypes using modern design tools.
Refine designs based on feedback from users, stakeholders, and internal teams.
Support developer handoff, user testing, and validation activities.
Contribute to design quality assurance throughout development and product release cycles.
Document design decisions, assumptions, and trade offs to support cross functional collaboration.
Help maintain reusable templates, design assets, and documentation resources.
Work closely with designers, product managers, and engineers throughout the product lifecycle.
Participate in Agile ceremonies including standups, sprint planning, grooming, and reviews.
Communicate progress, dependencies, and challenges effectively while demonstrating ownership and teamwork.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Design, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, Marketing, or a related field.
Professional certifications in UX Design, UI Design, Product Design, Design Thinking, or Product Management are an added advantage.
Experience as a design intern, assistant designer, or junior designer.
Portfolio demonstrating product design, UX/UI projects, or relevant coursework.
Exposure to user research and requirements gathering activities.
Experience collaborating with software developers is an added advantage.
Familiarity with Agile teams and tools such as Jira is beneficial.

Key Competencies

Strong understanding of user experience and user interface design principles including hierarchy, accessibility, usability, colour, typography, and layout.
Ability to reason through user interface states such as default, loading, empty, error, and success scenarios.
Knowledge of design thinking methodologies including research, discovery, validation, prototyping, and testing.
Strong project coordination and stakeholder communication skills.
Excellent documentation habits and attention to detail.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Proactive, adaptable, and eager to learn within a fast paced healthcare technology environment.
Ability to explain design decisions, constraints, and trade offs clearly and logically.

Tools and Work Environment

Figma, Canva, and Adobe Creative Suite for design and prototyping.
Jira and Confluence for task management and sprint planning.
GitLab for collaboration with engineering teams.
Agile and Scrum based software development workflows.
