The MPESA Foundation Citizens of the Future Scholarship Programme is a full scholarship initiative designed to provide equitable access to quality education for talented but financially disadvantaged learners in Kenya. Delivered through the MPESA Foundation Academy, the programme nurtures future leaders through a competency-based education focused on leadership, innovation, entrepreneurship, and technology.
Programme Overview
Fully funded three-year residential scholarship at MPESA Foundation Academy in Thika.
Partnership between Safaricom Foundation and MPESA Foundation.
Focus on leadership, innovation, entrepreneurship, and technology skills.
Targets over 30,000 learners by 2035.
Supports transition to tertiary education and career pathways.
Who Can Apply
Students in Grade 9 or equivalent.
Aged between 14 and 16 years at the time of entry.
Demonstrate academic excellence and leadership potential.
From financially disadvantaged backgrounds.
Committed to community service and responsible citizenship.
Refugee students registered in Kenya are eligible.
Selection Criteria
Academic excellence.
Financial need.
Leadership potential.
Creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship potential.
Discipline, values, and behaviour.
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Community engagement.
Required Documents
Birth certificate.
Parent or guardian ID.
Parent death certificate where applicable.
Academic reports for Grade 6, 7 and 8, stamped by the school.
Leadership and co-curricular certificates.
Parent or guardian payslip, bank or MPESA statement.
Any other relevant supporting documents.
Application Instructions
Complete the official 2026 application form clearly and fully.
Use your own handwriting and fill all sections provided.
Do not attach extra pages or use outdated forms.
Write your full name on each page.
Ensure all required documents are attached.
Incomplete applications will be disqualified.
All information provided will be verified.
Application Deadline
Submit your application by 15th May 2026. Applications received after the deadline will not be considered.
