The Actuarial Analyst - GI is responsible for providing actuarial support to the assigned General Insurance line of business while contributing to the company's overall risk management. The role involves reserving, pricing, product development, experience monitoring, solvency reporting, and supporting strategic business decisions through actuarial analysis.
Select appropriate reserve calculation methods and calculate reserves.
Provide actuarial analysis to support the renegotiation of existing contracts.
Provide actuarial input during product development for the assigned line of business.
Support product pricing and setup within the actuarial pricing and valuation system.
Review and monitor product experience to support decision making, including profit testing of existing products.
Prepare comprehensive quarterly actuarial reports covering key business issues, solvency, and capital monitoring.
Address issues raised by the Insurance Regulatory Authority during risk inspections and identify emerging risks.
Perform any other duties assigned from time to time.
University degree in Actuarial Science or another highly numerate subject.
Good progress in the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries examinations or another recognized actuarial professional body with at least eight actuarial exams passed.
Four to six years of experience in an actuarial or product development role within a mature insurance or financial services institution.
Experience across life and non-life insurance products is preferred.
Proven ability to work across functions and collaborate with multiple stakeholders.
Demonstrated interest in innovation within the insurance and financial services sector is an added advantage.
Strong knowledge of statistical techniques.
Good understanding of the insurance industry in Kenya.
Knowledge of reinsurance arrangements and structures.
Proficiency in statistical packages or programming languages such as SAS and Visual Basic.
Knowledge of database management systems.
Strong analytical, reporting, and problem solving skills.
