The Computer Instructor (Assistive Tech) is responsible for empowering learners with visual impairments to acquire essential computer and digital skills using assistive technology. The role focuses on training, mentorship, classroom management, and computer lab operations to support inclusive education and digital independence.
Train learners and teachers with visual impairments in basic and advanced computer skills, including keyboarding, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, internet use, and accessibility tools.
Introduce learners, teachers, and interns to computer programming and web development using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Manage the daily operations of the computer lab and ensure effective use of assistive technology software.
Troubleshoot and maintain computer hardware and the local area network within the lab.
Secure and manage organizational documents and data stored locally and in the cloud.
Mentor and counsel learners to build confidence, self esteem, and independence.
Monitor classroom dynamics to maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Assess learner progress through preparation, administration, and marking of computer based assessments.
Support special projects and collaborate with station leads on digital content creation.
Maintain computer lab cleanliness, hardware condition, and timely software updates.
Diploma in ICT, IT, or an equivalent qualification.
Minimum of two years of relevant work experience; teaching experience is an added advantage.
Strong IT, coding, and assistive technology skills.
Effective training, mentorship, and leadership abilities.
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Strong planning, organization, and problem solving skills.
