The Firefighter Trainee will be responsible for providing rescue and firefighting services to passengers, airport users, and property. The role involves responding to emergencies, maintaining firefighting equipment, and ensuring safety standards within airport operations.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct fire and rescue operations for aircraft incidents and building fire outbreaks.
Respond to aircraft emergencies as guided by the Airport Services Manual.
Inspect fire engines, appliances, and equipment to ensure full serviceability.
Clean and maintain equipment and fire station appliances.
Inspect runways, taxiways, and aprons for fuel spillages and foreign object debris (FOD).
Inspect airport boundaries and terrain to ensure accessibility during emergencies.
Operate pumps and drive fire engines and emergency vehicles when required.
Participate in scheduled fire drills and emergency preparedness exercises.
Qualifications
KCSE Grade C (Plain); KCSE Grade C– (Minus) for Minority, Marginalized Groups, and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).
Basic Fire Training from NYS or a recognized institution (added advantage).
EMT certification is an added advantage.
Age: 26 years (born on or after 1st Jan 1999) and up to 28 years for Minority, Marginalized Groups, and PWDs (born on or after 1st Jan 1997).

Terms of Service
The position is offered on a one (1) year contract for on-the-job training. Upon successful completion, candidates may be appointed on permanent and pensionable terms.
