Kericho Water and Sanitation Company Limited (KEWASCO) is seeking a qualified and self-driven individual to fill the position of Electro-Mechanical Technician under a three-year renewable contract. The role supports the efficient, safe, and reliable operation of critical electromechanical systems essential for water production, treatment, and distribution.

Job Purpose
The Electro-Mechanical Technician ensures continuous, safe, and efficient functioning of all electromechanical installations. Responsibilities include installation, maintenance, fault diagnosis, repair, and optimization of pumps, motors, control panels, generators, valves, and instrumentation systems to guarantee consistent service delivery and compliance with safety and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities
Install, test, commission, and supervise electromechanical equipment in liaison with the supervisor and approved service providers.
Perform scheduled inspections, servicing, testing, and preventive maintenance of pumps, motors, generators, control panels, valves, actuators, and instrumentation systems; maintain accurate maintenance records.
Diagnose and repair faults in electromechanical systems; document findings and prepare detailed reports.
Participate in developing and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), risk assessments, and emergency response plans.
Assist in planning operational and maintenance schedules for pumps and related equipment based on operational needs and energy-efficiency guidelines.
Identify and report system anomalies and provide root-cause analysis with recommended corrective measures.
Monitor and optimize energy consumption; recommend ways to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
Maintain inventory of spare parts, tools, and consumables; raise requisitions in time.
Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations including PPE use, lock-out/tag-out procedures, and risk assessments.
Liaise with suppliers, contractors, and regulatory bodies when necessary.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (Plant Option), Mechatronics Engineering, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
At least three (3) years hands-on experience in operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electromechanical systems preferably in water supply, wastewater, or industrial process plants.
Registration with EBK or IEK is an added advantage.
Proficiency in computer skills.

Ability to work under pressure and respond effectively to emergencies.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and time management skills.
Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety best practices.
Terms of Employment
The position is offered on a three (3) year renewable contract, subject to satisfactory performance.
