The Security Architect is responsible for designing, building, and overseeing secure technology environments that protect the bank’s digital infrastructure and financial assets. The role bridges business objectives and technical security controls, ensuring systems are resilient against cyber threats while remaining compliant with global financial regulations and enabling secure innovation.
Key Responsibilities
Design and maintain enterprise wide security architecture aligned with business goals and regulatory requirements.
Conduct security architecture reviews for new IT projects, ensuring security by design and by default principles.
Develop and enforce technical security standards across identity and access management, encryption, and network segmentation.
Identify architectural gaps and vulnerabilities and propose scalable solutions to mitigate risks.
Collaborate with leadership to translate security requirements into technical roadmaps and investment priorities.
Oversee selection and implementation of advanced security technologies aligned with long term strategy.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cyber Security, or a related field.
At least seven years of relevant professional experience.
Strong knowledge of industry standards and frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST, and MITRE ATT and CK.
Experience with security tools including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, SIEM, and vulnerability management tools.
Proven experience securing financial systems with knowledge of PCI DSS, SWIFT CSP, and the Kenya Data Protection Act 2019.
Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, SABSA, TOGAF, or relevant cloud security certifications are preferred.
Strong understanding of defence in depth strategies including Zero Trust architecture.

Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills to influence senior management decisions.
Advanced risk based decision making skills balancing security and operational agility.
Excellent technical documentation and reporting skills for compliance and regulatory submissions.
Proactive approach to innovation including adoption of advanced security solutions.
Strong vendor management and third party risk oversight skills.
