The company produces trusted personal and home care brands including MIADI, AMARA, SO SOFT, SPARKLE, ACE, Haco pegs and rulers, and is the sole licensed distributor of Palmers in Kenya. Haco is committed to adding value to everyday life across Africa.
The General Trade Manager is responsible for leading nationwide general trade operations to drive sustainable business growth. The role focuses on distributor management, route to market optimization, and execution excellence through Regional Sales Managers and third party sales teams.
Location and Reporting
Location: National Coverage
Reports to the National Sales Manager
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute distributor management strategies to drive performance and sustainable growth.
Monitor distributor KPIs and enforce operating standards to improve efficiency and profitability.
Design and continuously improve route to market strategies to enhance coverage, service levels, and cost efficiency.
Lead countrywide execution of general trade plans in line with company objectives.
Drive numeric and weighted distribution growth and maintain perfect store standards.
Provide direct leadership, coaching, and performance management for Regional Sales Managers.
Coordinate with third party staffing agencies to ensure effective deployment and compliance.
Analyze sales performance, market trends, and competitive activity using data driven insights.
Prepare performance reports and strategic recommendations for executive decision making.
Manage departmental budgets including trade investment, sales force allocation, and merchandising resources.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field. MBA is an added advantage.
Minimum of eight years experience in FMCG sales with at least three years in a senior trade management role.
Proven experience in distributor management and route to market execution.
Strong leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
Excellent analytical, planning, and problem solving abilities.
Experience working with third party sales teams and sales force automation tools.
