The KenGen Staff Retirement Benefits Scheme (KSRBS) is a pension organization comprising the Defined Benefits (DB) and Defined Contribution (DC) Schemes. The Scheme is regulated by the Retirement Benefits Authority (RBA) and is mandated to provide pension benefits to employees of Kenya Electricity Generating Company PLC (KenGen), ensure prudent investment of member contributions, and safeguard members' savings.
Position Overview
The Chief Executive Officer & Trust Secretary is responsible for providing overall leadership, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and governance standards, overseeing daily operations, and implementing the Scheme’s strategic objectives. The role also entails advising the Board of Trustees on governance issues and ensuring prudent management of Scheme resources.
Key Responsibilities
Managerial Duties:
Ensure the Scheme operates in line with its Trust Deed, rules, laws, and regulations.
Provide leadership to all departments and guide the management team towards achieving the Scheme’s goals.
Oversee strategic planning, implementation, and performance monitoring.
Foster effective communication across departments to ensure accountability and cohesion.
Oversee preparation of annual reports, accounts, and budgets within stipulated timelines.
Operational Duties:
Liaise with regulators, service providers, and stakeholders including RBA, KRA, and KenGen PLC.
Maintain accurate financial and membership records and ensure timely submission of statutory returns.
Ensure efficient internal controls and prudent financial management of Scheme resources.
Oversee benefit payments to members and ensure compliance with Trust Deed provisions.
Monitor fund managers, property managers, and custodians to ensure optimal performance.

High standards of customer service and organizational performance.
Qualifications and Experience
Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Commerce, Accounting, Actuarial Science, Law, or a related field.
Bachelor’s degree in the above disciplines from a recognized university.
Registered member of a relevant professional body.
Minimum of twelve (12) years’ experience, including seven (7) in senior management and at least three (3) in a similar role within the pensions sector.
Successful completion of the Trustee Development Program of Kenya (TDPK).
Proven leadership, strategic management, and communication skills.
