The Business Intelligence (BI) Developer will support the Co-operative Bank of Kenya’s IT Department by designing, developing, and documenting BI solutions, including reports, dashboards, and data models. The role requires strong analytical abilities, agile development experience, and a commitment to high-quality, data-driven solutions that enhance business decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement BI reports, dashboards, and solutions that support business optimization and meet stakeholder requirements.
Analyze business and use-case requirements to identify operational problems, define data modeling needs, and develop supporting data structures.
Filter and clean data, review performance indicators, and troubleshoot code issues to ensure accuracy and reliability.
Identify trends and patterns in complex datasets, apply statistical techniques, and provide ongoing analytical reports.
Acquire data from primary and secondary sources and maintain databases and data systems.
Design and code reports and dashboards based on user specifications to support decision-making and control.
Adjust system configurations and parameters to meet evolving business and technological needs.
Provide test interfaces and environments to facilitate user acceptance testing before deployment.
Develop and maintain system documentation, manuals, and configurations while resolving user queries.
Identify and define opportunities for process improvement and enhance technological efficiency.
Analyze requirements, recommend appropriate solutions, and coordinate the resolution of system and solution failures.
Build reusable code and libraries to support ongoing and future BI initiatives.
Support continuous improvement by assessing current BI tools, systems, and processes, implementing enhancements, and gathering user feedback.
Understand and apply key performance indicators and metrics used for performance reporting and analytics across functions.
Roll out BI solutions to stakeholders and provide UAT environments to ensure all features are validated before go-live.
Secure systems through appropriate access controls in compliance with bank policies and standards.
Adhere to all applicable regulations, internal processes, and compliance requirements.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or a related field from a recognized institution.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in software development, data analysis, and reporting with a proven track record.
Strong analytical, presentation, and problem-solving skills with the ability to convey technical ideas in user-friendly language.
Technical expertise in data warehouse design, dimensional modeling, and data mining techniques.
Experience with ETL tools such as Oracle ODI, Microsoft SSIS, and Talend; strong PL/SQL and SQL skills.
Proficiency with visualization tools including Oracle Analytics Server, Power BI, SSRS, Tableau, and QlikView.
Working knowledge of databases such as Oracle and SQL Server.
Programming knowledge in Java, C#, and Python.
Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems and fair knowledge of Unix/Linux environments.
