The DevOps Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the organization's DevOps strategy to enhance software development efficiency, scalability, and reliability. This role involves managing CI/CD pipelines, automating testing and deployment processes, and ensuring strong collaboration between development and operations teams. The position is based in Kenya under the KCB Group.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain a Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Deployment (CD) strategy to enable DevOps at scale.
Build and execute automated testing plans for software projects and provide reporting templates for monitoring test coverage.
Establish best practices for infrastructure as code, software build tools, and continuous integration tools such as Jenkins, TeamCity, and Gradle.
Mentor and coach junior software developers to build their DevOps expertise.
Design, build, and maintain infrastructure to support continuous software development, QA, and deployment processes.
Define and enforce standards for monitoring, capacity planning, tuning, backups, and recovery to ensure optimal infrastructure performance.
Configure and administer code repositories such as Git and SVN.
Manage image storage systems to ensure consistency and recoverability.
Develop processes for code version control to maintain governance and security.
Serve as a thought leader in DevOps practices, collaborating with stakeholders to identify and implement suitable tools for orchestration and automation.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Proficiency with DevOps tools such as Jenkins and Ansible.
Certification in Cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, etc.).
Experience with software development in Java or Python.
Knowledge of Azure DevOps (Azure Container Registry, Pipelines, Azure Boards, Azure Defender).
Experience with GitOps tools (Argo CD, Flux CD) and Service Mesh technologies (Istio, Linkerd, OpenShift Service Mesh).
Familiarity with Harbor Container Registry, Helm Charts, and DevSecOps tools (SAST, DAST, CheckMarx).
Working knowledge of Kubernetes services (AKS, EKS).
Experience
Minimum of five (5) years of total professional experience.
At least three (3) years in commercial software development.
Minimum of three (3) years of hands-on experience with configuration management and deployment tools such as Puppet, Ansible, Chef, or Terraform.
Three (3) years of experience in developing and managing release pipelines.
Three (3) years of experience working within GitOps frameworks.
